Product Details
The Pagoda rug is the gold standard of Chinese handmade rug production. The pile is 100% wool, incredibly thick and soft, and finished with hand-carved sculpturing of design elements for dramatic effect. Each of these rugs is created by skilled artisans who use centuries old techniques that are largely unchanged over many generations. While all of the rugs within a collection will feature the same colors and designs, the nature of handmade rugs is such that each piece can have subtle differences which make them, literally, “one of a kind.” This is a unique feature of handmade carpets. These differences range from slight color variations to subtle differences in design and “scale” of the rug. These differences can be due to the hand knotting and yarn dyeing processes. Larger pieces will have more detail in the designs and smaller pieces will have design adjustments so that the pattern is suitable for the size of the rug.

- 100% Wool pile.
- Hand carved and embossed detail.
- Wool is naturally stain resistant and very durable.
- 1 in. thick with approximately 57 knots per square inch (8,100 per sq. ft.).
- Soft underfoot.
- A finely woven 8x10 hand knotted rug would normally take two artisans 6-8 months to weave. Washing and finishing will take a few weeks after the weaving is complete. Smaller rugs take less time and larger rugs more time.
- Depending on the size of the rug, and for the protection of the rug, we may use a custom cardboard box for shipping. The rug will be folded into the box and when unfolded in your room, may show some creases. These will completely dissipate over a short time. The “weft” (foundation) of the rug is 100% cotton and will lie completely flat after the rug “relaxes.”
- Sizes 8 ft. x 10 ft. and larger will be shipped in a box.
- Limited quantity available

Care Instructions:
- Your new rug may shed loose fibers when you first open it. This is normal for a handmade rug and will stop with normal vacuuming.
- When you first unroll your new rug, you may see some creases due to being tightly rolled for shipping. Simply lay it flat and the creases will disappear completely as the rug relaxes.
- Upon opening the rug, there may be lingering odors due to the dyes and natural fibers used. These will dissipate over a short time.
- This rug is incredibly durable and will provide years of service. When necessary clean spills or spots by blotting with a mild soap and water solution, rinse with clean water.
- Allow to air dry.
- When drying, lift the affected area from the floor so that air can circulate.
- For any yarns or fibers that protrude above the surface, simply clip them off at the surface with scissors.
- You should rotate your rug periodically to promote even wear and exposure to light.
- For major cleaning contact a qualified handmade rug cleaner.
