How Were Dum Dum Original Pops Invented?
Dum Dum lollipops were created by the Akron Candy Co. of Ohio, in 1924. I.C. Bahr, the sales manager of the company, named the candy on a stick because he felt it was an easy-to-say, memorable name. Now owned by Spangler Candy, Dum Dums and their original Dum Dum flavors are still manufactured in Ohio, where enthusiasts may take a factory tour.
